1. So adorable! But I'm interested in what they're actually responding to. They can't hear or see at this point, I think, but other litters I've seen are certainly able to smell when their mama approaches – maybe the room air is carrying your scent into the incubator too? They reacted so fast, I'm wondering if the microenvironment within their fur would take a few seconds longer than that to let the cooler air in to their skin? Or maybe it just needs to reach their teeny naked noses, in which case I guess your scent and the changing temperature would arrive at the same instant … I can't get enough of teeny kittens, they are so, so cute!

4. I'm familiar with this reaction as I've been fostering kittens and cats since I was 12. I know when kittens wake up crying that it's feeding time.

The mere fact that someone like you, Kitten Lady, is out there, caring for, and giving your heart to, these most vulnerable and innocent of creatures, reminds me that life might – maybe, just maybe – be worth living after all; giving me the day-to-day strength to go on for yet another day. So Thank You! Thank you, not for me, but for the sake of these lonely little ones out there in need of a warm place to sleep, a belly warm and full of formula, and love – most of all: Love.
